Today, a large body of research is available on the relationship between regular coffee consumption and human health. Moreover, numerous observational studies have associated regular coffee consumption with favorable health outcomes.
However, this does not mean that coffee treats diseases or that everyone should drink it. Individual responses to caffeine can vary considerably.

Based on current scientific knowledge, there is no basis for making a general claim that normal coffee consumption causes cancer.
Moreover, large epidemiological analyses have associated coffee consumption with a lower risk of certain types of cancer.
This does not mean, however, that coffee is an anti-cancer treatment or that it prevents cancer.
An observed statistical association is not sufficient to conclude that drinking coffee directly prevents a particular type of cancer.
WHEN CAN COFFEE BECOME A PROBLEM?

Decaffeinated coffee still contains many of the naturally occurring compounds found in coffee, although its caffeine content has been significantly reduced.
Interestingly, some of the favorable associations observed in scientific studies have also been reported for decaffeinated coffee.
This is one of the reasons researchers believe that the properties of coffee are not related exclusively to caffeine.
SO, IS DRINKING COFFEE HEALTHY?
For most healthy adults, moderate coffee consumption can be part of a balanced diet.
The key facts are:

During pregnancy, the upper level is lower, at up to 200 mg of caffeine per day from all sources.
In numerous observational studies, regular coffee consumption has been associated with favorable outcomes relating to all-cause mortality and certain metabolic, neurological and liver conditions.
Caffeine increases alertness and reduces sleepiness, but when consumed late in the day it may interfere with sleep.
Filtered coffee may be a more suitable choice for people who need to pay particular attention to their cholesterol levels.
Decaffeinated coffee can be a useful alternative for those who are sensitive to caffeine.
